Step into deep time in southwestern Utah on this immersive paleontology field experience. Explore the renowned Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm, featuring an exceptional Early Jurassic tracksite, and go behind the scenes in museum collections and prep labs. Participants will also excavate fossils at the active Substation Quarry and join a guided field excursion to lesser-known tracksites and striking sandstone landscapes, culminating with a visit to Red Hills Desert Garden where additional dinosaur tracks are preserved in situ.
Study Leaders:
Dinosaur Ridge staff Barbara Farley and Alyce Olson will lead the program. Alyce (“Allosaurus Alyce”) is Dinosaur Ridge’s Lead Tour Guide with extensive experience interpreting fossil sites across Colorado, while Barbara brings years of expertise coordinating educational travel and volunteer programs. Our local experts will include Dr. Jerry Harris and Lead Paleontologist Andrew Milner
Location & Transportation: Participants arrange their own flights to/from St. George UT. All local transportation during the program is provided via a comfortable air-conditioned 15-passenger van.
Physical Exertion Level/Accessibility: Ranges from low to moderate. Museum and garden visits are accessible, but quarry excavation and fieldwork involve uneven terrain, sitting or kneeling on the ground, and 3–5 hours of outdoor activity; not fully ADA accessible.
Program Fee: $1600 per person ($100 discount with member coupon code - please ask trip coordinator).$800 deposit due upon registration with final payment of $800 due by August 23, 2026.

Fee does not include airfare or meals not mentioned above.
Accommodations: Best Western Coral Hills (4 nights) with complimentary breakfast, pools, and hot tub.
Trip Cancellation Policy:
- Trip is contingent on a minimum of 8 registered participants and will be cancelled by September 23rd if the minimum is not met.
- If the trip is cancelled by Dinosaur Ridge, participants will receive a full refund of program fees paid.
- All cancellations must be received in writing.
- Cancellations received 121 or more calendar days prior to departure qualify for a full refund.
- Cancellations received 91 or more calendar days prior to departure qualify for an 80% refund.
- Cancellations received 61 or more calendar days prior to departure qualify for a 50% refund of program fees.
- Cancellations received 60 calendar days or less prior to departure are assessed a cancellation fee of 100% of the program fees. You may transfer your registration to another attendee or forfeit your payment.
